Visits Gail Brinn Wilkins Interior Design
On Tuesday, November 8, 2006 the Lighting and Color Class taught by Kathy Prokay from Queens University at Charlotte visited the design studio of Gail Brinn Wilkins Interiors.
Designers Amy Barrington and Michelle McSwain informed the group of 13 students about their careers in Interior Design. After a video showing the design process at GBW Inc. with clients discussing their relationships with Gail Brinn Wilkins and staff, the two designers made presentations on important features of the design business that the students were most anxious to know from an active design firm.
The program took place at 600 Queens Road, a 4600 square foot studio in a 1930’s Tudor Home. The library, housing thousands of samples with untold combinations of designs, was the setting for the students. Schemes and current design projects were shown as examples of the interest clients have today for their corporate, hospitality, and residential spaces.
After a question-answer period, a tour of the three level studio, there was discussion about internships in interior design. Gail welcomes interns and others who have interest in intering the field. Over the years, Gail has had at least 2 and often times 3 or 4 interns in a single year, each staying several months. They come from universities and colleges all over the Southeast.
Gail Brinn Wilkins, Inc. is enjoying it’s 25th year. Please drop by and visit and help Gail and staff celebrate.
Gail is very generous in using this exciting and interesting space and invites clubs, companies, and other organizations to meet at her studio. She is available to do many types of programs that are geared to the interest of varied groups.
